Gregory
S. Neal, a native of Texas, earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology
in 1982 from Texas A&M University, a Master of Science degree in Biochemistry
in 1984 from Texas A&M University, and an M.D. degree in 1988 from
Texas A&M College of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency
in Obstetrics and Gynecology in the United States Air Force at Wilford
Hall Medical Center, San Antonio, Texas in 1992. Dr. Neal then proceeded
to New York where he completed a fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology
in 1994 at The New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center under the direction
of Dr. Zev Rosenwaks.
Dr. Neal joined the faculty in the Department of Obstetrics and
Gynecology at Wilford Hall Medical Center in 1994 and served as a Major
in the United States Air Force until May 1999. As the Chief of
Reproductive Endocrinology, he was instrumental in developing a full
service infertility program with referrals from throughout the United
States. He established the highly successful Wilford Hall Medical Center
IVF program and served as the Medical Director from its inception in
1996 through his separation from the Air Force in 1999. He is the author
of numerous scientific articles and has presented his research at
national and international meetings. He is a Fellow of the the American
College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is Board Certified in
Reproductive Endocrinology and Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Dr. Neal's early research interests included evaluation of methods of
stimulating high responder patients in IVF cycles. Recent interests
include work evaluating the predictive value of basal serum insulin-like
growth factor binding protein-3 (IGF-BP3) for IVF outcome and evaluation
of the relationship between cumulus cell apoptosis and markers of
ovarian response and reserve. His special interests include infertility,
advanced operative laparoscopy and hysteroscopy, tubal microsurgery,
hormone replacement therapy, and in vitro fertilization.
Dr. Neal's most recent publications involve studies with the
development of brief stress management support groups for couples
undergoing IVF.
Fertility Center of San Antonio is accredited by the American
Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM). Dr. Neal is an active member
of AIUM.
